This product knows which companies you would leave your job for. That is unusually sensitive, and the rest of this page is about how it is handled.

What we store

  • Your email address. It is also how you sign in.
  • The companies you track, and the order you put them in.
  • Which roles you dismissed or marked as applied.
  • Your role and location filters, and what time you want the email.
  • A record of each email we sent you, so a missing one is explainable.
  • Whether you are on the free or the paid plan. If you pay, also a Stripe customer reference that ties your account to your payments, and the date your paid month ends.

We also measure how the site is used — how many people arrive, which pages they read, and how many go on to sign up — through PostHog, which processes it on our behalf and for nothing else. Once you have an account your email address is sent to it as well, so that we can tell which account did what and get in touch with you about it, along with the name of a company at the moment you look it up or add it, so that we can see which employers people most want watched, and which ones we cannot read yet. Your list as a whole is never sent, and none of it is used to advertise to you or shared with anyone for their own purposes. What your browser keeps is three cookies: two for signing in and one for that counting. The cookies page lists them all, and says how to turn the counting off.

What we do not store

No résumé, no cover letter, no work history. No payment card: if you pay, Stripe holds that and we never see the number.

Who can see it

You and us. Nobody else. The list of companies and their job boards is shared across all customers because it is public information about employers, and it holds nothing about any customer.

We never tell an employer, or anyone else, that a particular person is watching them. There is no product, feature, or report that does this.

Email we send

One digest each morning if you have it switched on, and a sign-in link when you ask for one. Every digest carries a one-click unsubscribe that works without signing in. If you pay, Stripe emails you a receipt for each payment, and a warning if a payment fails or your card is about to expire.

Who we rely on

  • Supabase stores the database.
  • Vercel runs the site.
  • Resend delivers the email, so it handles your address.
  • Stripe handles payment, holds the card details we never see, and sends your receipts, so it handles your address too.

Getting rid of it

Settings has a section called Your data. From there you can download a copy of your data, or delete your account. Deleting is immediate and permanent. If you pay, it also cancels your subscription and removes your customer record at Stripe, so you are never charged again. Stripe keeps its own record of payments already made, as payment companies are required to.

Or email help@roles.watch and we will do either for you within seven days.
